Date

July 2025

Location

London

This once plain and uninspiring outdoor space has been transformed into a stunning, colourful and inviting urban garden with a refined, grown-up atmosphere. Overlooking a golf course, the garden originally suffered from privacy challenges, an awkwardly shaped patio, and uninspiring planting that offered little visual appeal or cohesion.

The redesign centres around a large, all-weather pergola that creates a sheltered, elegant space for relaxing and entertaining throughout the year. Beneath it, a generous limestone patio provides a bright, timeless foundation that enhances the sense of openness and flow.

A carefully curated, Japanese-inspired planting scheme brings structure, movement, and seasonal interest, transforming the garden into a calm yet vibrant retreat. The planting enhances privacy while introducing texture, colour, and a subtle sense of drama.

To address safety concerns posed by the garden’s proximity to the golf course, a new, durable banister was installed at the rear—designed specifically to withstand the impact of stray golf balls while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

The result is a sophisticated, welcoming and future-proof urban garden that beautifully balances style, privacy, and year-round functionality—an inviting sanctuary with character, colour and a sense of calm.
